Yay, Hannah!

Hannah learned how to clap a few days ago and she is very pleased with her new accomplishment. Any time she hears clapping on TV she starts to clap. It is so fascinating to me that she has already made the connection because it sounds different when an audience is clapping versus a single person. She also claps when she is happy about something. It's so cute!

Picky Eater?

So, our friends tease us because we're always complaining that Hannah's a picky eater. You would never know it by the looks of that lasagna all over her face in this video! Since she was about 6 months old, Hannah has refused to let anyone feed her. She wants to do it all by herself--Miss Independent! We have tried all different forms and textures of food and, unfortunately, she's not a big fan of fruits and vegetables. She'll occasionally eat some bananas, potatoes, and green beans, but there's not much else healthy that she likes to eat and those suckers can be pretty slippery. If you put something on her plate with cheese or noodles, however, it's a completely different story. (Guess she DID get something from her mother after all.) She was double fisting this lasagna recipe from Grandma JuJu. At least there was a little spinach in it. Notice in the video how she inspects each handful before it goes into her mouth. Wouldn't want mommy to hide anything healthy in it, now, would we? :)

Having a blast!

Hannah is getting to be so much more fun each day. She is a crawling expert now and manages to get around and over anything in her path. Her favorite new discoveries are the cat food bowls and banging on walls with her hands. It is so much fun to experience her amazement at the little things, such as the lint on the carpet and the dust bunnies in the corners :) Everything goes straight to her mouth so I have to try to keep the house pretty clean these days.

She is also learning the intended purpose of many of her toys. Her fine motor skills are improving to the point where she can push buttons and turn some games on and off. She loves anything that makes loud banging noises!

Hannah's smile is priceless. When she sees me from across the room now she'll occasionally smile and beeline it over to me. My favorite gift from her is when she randomly opens her mouth as wide as possible and moves in to plant a big sloppy one right on my lips. She's such a sweet baby and we feel so blessed by her love.

Nine Months Old

It's hard to believe my baby's growing up. She had her nine month check-up this morning and she's growing like a weed. This is the second appointment where the doctor had to re-measure her head circumference because it was unbelievably large. Guess they haven't seen her daddy :) Here are Hannah's most recent stats:

Height: 29.5 inches (98th percentile)
Weight: 20 lbs 8 oz (84th percentile)
Head Circumference: 18 3/4 inches (99th percentile)

Our First Blog

Caleb and I have enjoyed staying in touch with friends and family through their blogs so we decided it's about time we got one of our own. We hope you enjoy reading our reflections and admiring our amazing daughter.

Hannah's most recent accomplishment has been learning to crawl. For weeks she had been flipping and flopping every direction, as well as scooting around on her bottom. We knew it would only be a matter of time, but were filled with wonder as we watched her inch across the room for the first time last week.

Besides looking adorable as she moves about the house, it is interesting to see which toys she actually enjoys the most. Before, we would bring her toys that we thought she would like to play with, but now she crawls right to the ones that SHE likes. Her favorite at the moment is her piano. She bangs the keys, dances, and sings (ok, shrieks and shouts) loudly as the music plays. She's also quite fond of finding cords behind tables and chairs and yanking on them. When we tell her "no", she stops, turns, looks at us, smiles, and then touches it again. It's hard to keep a straight face because it's so cute! However, we do our best to distract her from the danger.

Thank you for taking the time to read about what's going on in our lives and welcome to our Blog! :)
