Love of Books

Recently, Hannah has developed a curiosity about books. She has a tub of books in the family room and they are becoming some of her favorite things to play with. At this point, she can mainly just pull them out and put them back into the bucket. However, there are a few books that she does manage to get open.

When she was first born we would make an attempt to be good parents by clumsily trying to hold onto a squirmy baby and a book at the same time. We tried to read the stories to her, but Hannah was much more interested in the ceiling fan.

Within the last couple of weeks Hannah has started focusing intently on the pages in her books. Daddy is a big fan of the author Sandra Boynton and they laugh and laugh together at the hippos and their belly buttons. I personally prefer the animal books so we can practice naming them and making silly sounds. Hannah is particularly fond of the words "kitty cat." She looks around for Gabi and Maya whenever she hears us say them. She is very interested in the different intonations and inflections of our voices when we read and will often turn around with a puzzled look on her face as she reaches for our mouths.

We hope Hannah continues to love books so she can grow up to be very smart :) Before we know it, she'll be reading the books to us!
